    Course Summary

    A BA in International Tourism Management from Solent University combines a great deal of very specialised management and leadership education with a general set of business skills which will be useful in nearly any industry or organisation. You’ll also get real world experience.

    The course includes several optional extras, including the chance to study abroad for a semester or a full year with one of Solent’s partner institutions all around the world, a chance at an industry specific pain internship or work experience placement or special training in the management of a tourist destination organisation.

    This program makes great use of Southampton’s location on the UK’s southern coast. It has close working relationships with industry organisations like Carnival UK, the Beaulieu National Motor Museum (in New Forest National Park) and Southampton International Airport.     Learning & Teaching

    Though the curriculum of Solent University’s courses include all of the expected lectures, skills workshops and seminars, there are also many teaching techniques which involve getting first hand advice from industry leaders, useful examples of working in the field and other ways of better preparing students for an active career. One such method is the option of a year spent in a paid placement or studying abroad. Specific industry role preparation is another.

Recent students work with many different local attractions, hotels and local authority tourism organisations, and have taken roles as wide raging as Resort Manager, International Tour Operator, Tourism Researcher, Global Cruise Director, International Hospitality Professional, Heritage Attraction Manager, Visitor Manager, Customer Service Professional, Marketing Professional or many different roles in Public Sector Tourism.

    Entry Credit

    Successful completion will result in a full BA degree.

    All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test. An IELTS score of 6.0 overall and no less than 5.5 in any section would qualify, for example.
