    Course Summary

St George’s University London’s BSc program in Healthcare Science was developed in accordance with the Department of Health to give graduates the skills they need to take on patient centred roles in the NHS. You can specialise in either Respiratory and Sleep Physiology or Cardiac Physiology. This is the single largest course of its type in the world, and St George’s is the only university accredited to train graduates in these specialties.

On successful completion you’ll be eligible for registration as an NHS Clinical Physiology Practitioner. This will allow you to take on NHS Band 5 positions, and play an important role in the diagnosis, treatment and management of patients whose needs fall within your field of specialised practice.

In your studies you will gain a detailed theoretical understanding of the science behind both fields. You’ll also gain working, patient-focused clinical experience in each before you must choose which specialty you will call your own.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
