    Course Summary

    Psychology is a broad and many-faceted field which is of interest to nearly any student who wants to know more about how – and why – people think, feel and behave. Psychology is key to understanding ourselves and others, and has a huge number of applications in terms of commerce, industry, communications and therapy.

    You’ll learn how psychology informs the process of counselling, mental health care, education and even forensic investigation. You’ll also be able to explore many topics of your own choosing.

    This degree is extremely accessible, even to those students who do not have a great deal of specialised scientific education already. As it includes a built-in foundation year, you can apply for the program with as few as 48 UCAS Tariff Points to your name. You needn’t have any particular A Levels ether, as all of the essential skills and knowledge of the field will be provided for you over those first two semesters.

    Learning & Teaching

    St Mary’s University relies on a mixture of innovative and traditional teaching methods to convey each module. These will often include large lectures, smaller seminars, laboratory time and even one on one tutorial sessions. The exact methods used vary from module to module and from lecturer to lecturer, but will be chosen to best convey the course materials. Your progress will be assessed through examinations, presentations, research, practical reports and essays.

    Entry Credit

    Successful completion will result in a full BSc degree.

    All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test. An IELTS score of 6.0 overall and with no section scoring less than 5.5 would qualify, for example.
