    Course Summary

    Swansea’s BSc in computer Science (with a year in industry) is a 4 year program designed to make it easy for you to enter any of a wide range of industries as a Computer Science specialist. You’ll explore data visualisation, mobile app design and development, software engineering computer graphics and methods of modelling computer systems.

    Course Outline

    This course is delivered over 4 years at full time, including a year’s paid industry placement.

    Year 1:

    • Placement Preparation: Science Industrial Year

    Year 3 (Placement):

    You will spend your third year in a paid placement in industry. This will give you a great deal of practical work experience, but it does more than fill out your CV. It helps you show at least one employer what you can do, and forms the first elements of your professional network. It also comes with a salary, which is never a bad thing!

    Year 4:

    This is when you will deliver a substantial CS project. The fourth year of the program has only one required module: Computer Science Project Specification and Development. This will help define your project goals.

    The remaining modules are optional. You’ll choose any six form the following list:

    Learning And Teaching

    This is essentially the same as the 3-year CS degree program, except for the year in industrial placement. This will be an opportunity to put the skills you’ve learned into practice in the real world.

    Entry Requirements

    for UK and EU-nationals:

    This BSc program typically requires applicants to have achieved 3 A Levels of BBB or better, including at least 2 of Maths, Computer Science and Physics. Other certifications are accepted, at an equivalent level.

    for overseas (non-EU) students:

    International students must be fluent in written and spoken English. This can be demonstrated by an excellent IELTS score, or with one of several equivalent exams.

    International students must also have earned an educational certification that is the equivalent of that required for UK and EU students. The requirements can be found here.
