    Course Summary

Teesside University’s MEng in Aerospace Engineering with Industry is integrated with their BEng program, providing a complete Master’s degree education in this highly specialised field with a full year’s experience working in the aerospace industry in just 5 years. From there, your potential is virtually unmatched.

This degree program is fully accredited at the Master’s level by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and recognised by the Engineering Council. That means that successful completion of the course at a high level meets all UK Standards for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC).

One of the unique features of this course is the integrated flight test course in year 2. You’ll fly in a Jetstream aircraft, gathering data as it manoeuvres in various conditions. You’ll work in many specialised labs, on many kinds of industry equipment and with advanced simulators. You’ll also study rotorcraft, computational fluid dynamics, production management and a range of other practically oriented subjects.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.

Teesside’s Aerospace Engineering with Industry MEng program combines classic teaching methods such as seminars, design workshops, case studies, tutorials and formal lectures with modern options. These include simulation experience, working with a wide range of different aircraft systems and actual flight experience. You’ll typically spend 4-5 days each week in a classroom setting as well as a single day each week at the Hartlepool laboratory facility. Transportation will be provided.

    Career Possiblities

This degree program meets all UK Standards for Professional Engineering Competence. As a result, most graduates seek out careers in the aircraft or aerospace industries. Nonetheless, many students opt for roles in other aspects of engineering, including renewable energy, oil and gas, electrical or electronic engineering, engineering processes or the automotive industries, just to name a few. As always, participation in the industrial placement program will greatly enhance your employability in nearly any field.

    Entry Credit

Successful completion will result in a 5 year MEng degree.

Applicants must typically have earned 112 UCAS Tariff points or the international equivalent. The full list of accepted qualifications can be found here.

All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test. An excellent IELTS score would qualify, for example.
