    A BA degree in Computer Animation from Teesside University is unique, it that it includes an integrated foundation year, making it accessible to a very wide range of students. This can make up for a lack of formal training.

    You’ll learn all of the ‘tricks of the trade’, enabling you to work in a range of roles in the film, TV and games industries. You’ll gain a broad basis of skills including 2D and 3D key frame animation, modelling and asset design, cinematography, pre-visualisation and a range of drawing techniques. In time, you can choose to specialise as a motion capture artist, an animator, or in a range of related roles.

    In addition to theoretical studies, you’ll gain practical experience working at all levels of the pre-production and production cycles of various animation projects. You’ll also participate in team based projects for video games which will see you gain experience in your specialisation.

    Learning & Teaching

    Teesside’s BA degree in Computer Animation uses several different teaching methods to ensure that you have fully absorbed the content of each module. These include active learning by using the actual techniques, tools and strategies employed in the film, television and games industries. You’ll make extensive use of teamwork, preparing you to become a part of the interdisciplinary teams favoured by the industry today. You’ll also attend a range of guest lectures and interactive seminars.

    Entry Credit

    Successful completion will result in a 3 year BA degree.

    All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test. An excellent IELTS score would qualify, for example.
