    Course Summary

Trent University’s Media Studies program combines classroom learning, critical theory and a great deal of hands-on studio time. Media is many things to many people, and this program will give you a baseline understanding of all aspects of Media Studies before letting you choose the course of your studies and define your own practice. Early on you’ll learn to do everything, from fashioning 3D printed objects to shooting on celluloid film, from wiring circuits to creating exciting social media profiles.

You’ll also study how ideology, politics and advertising influence the arts and the media. You’ll study advanced multimedia design, and have access to modules based on the humanities and the sciences.

You’ll get a great deal of one on one learning time with your professors, something that is becoming all too rare in Baccalaureate level studies today. This will ensure that you gain the in-depth knowledge you need to build a career in any of a dozen different creative fields.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
