    Course Summary

    A BSc in Architectural Technology from Edinburgh Napier University trains you to bridge the gap between the practice of construction in the field and the latest developments in design theory. It will prepare you to adapt these new technologies for real world practice in a commercially viable manner.

    You will learn the skills of architectural design and development, as well as gaining skills with the latest computer drafting technologies. You’ll know to see a project through from development all the way to completion.

    The Architectural Technology program is fully accredited by both the Chartered Institute of Building and the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists. It also hosts CIAT’s Centre of Excellence. Not only will these accreditations make it much easier for you to achieve professional qualifications as an architect or architectural technologist, they are seen by many potential employers as evidence of your skill and training – and rightly so.

    Course Outline

    This program is typically delivered over four years at full time.  

    In addition, you’ll have access to several different Study Abroad options. These will let you explore the role of an Architectural Technologist in one of several other countries, studying at one of Edinburgh Napier University’s partner institutions overseas. Popular options are studying at the Copenhagen School of Design and Technology (KEA) or the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences.

    Learning & Teaching

    Edinburgh Napier University’s Architectural Technology program relies on several teaching methods. These will be chosen by the course tutor, in accordance with the demands of the material and their own skills and preferences. However, almost all modules make use of both large, formal lectures and smaller, more interactive tutorials. There you will study both design and technology in great detail. You’ll be assessed based on exams, essays and practical assignments.

    Career Possiblities

    Edinburgh Napier University’s BSC degree program in Architectural Technology attracts recruiters from several different UK and international industries. Graduate employment for the university overall is an encouraging 95% at 6 months, largely because of advanced, industry-focused programs like this.     Entry Credit

    Successful completion will result in a BSc degree.

    All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test. A good score on the IELTS would qualify, for example.
