You’ll also learn how to foster business growth in a modern, globalised economy.

A year studying abroad or in industrial placement is an important part of this program. Either will give you important perspectives on business issues, and can help you make the kind of contacts you will need to become a success in your later career.

This degree program is accredited by the CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing).

    Course Outline

This outline follows the three year plan, but this can be a 4 year program if you opt for overseas study or placement.

    Stage 1:

Stage one focuses on the basic business and marketing skills you’ll need to take full advantage of later modules. Modules typically include:

    • Academic and Professional Skills
    • Ethics in Marketing, Critical Consumption, and Corporate Social Responsibility
    • Introduction to Management and Organisation
    • Introduction to Marketing
    • Marketing in Practice
    • Quantitative Methods for Business Management
    • Understanding Business Growth

    Stage 2:

The next stage focuses on management and marketing. There are 4 compulsory modules to take, but the remainder can be selected from a wide range of electives. This is your opportunity to start building a specialty which will serve you well in your later career.

    Placement / Study Abroad:

You have the option to spend a year in paid work placement with one of several approved organisations, or studying abroad at one of NU’s partner universities. Both are highly recommended, as they give you real world working experience and a chance to make important industry contacts.

    Stage 3:

Stage three is almost entirely comprised of elective modules. These allow you to put the finishing touches on your specialisation and to prepare to enter the work force with a substantial advantage over generalist students.

    Learning & Teaching

Newcastle University champions research-informed teaching, and the Teaching Exellence Framework has given NU a Gold Award for the quality of its teaching methods.
