    Course Summary

The University of Salford’s MSc, PgCert or PgDip in Management is a great way to gain the industry-specific leadership and management skills you’ll need to succeed. You’ll learn any business skills, but most importantly you’ll learn to research, evaluate and think critically about business and management issues.

Not only will you build on your existing business and management skills substantially, you’ll be able to forge wide networks with students and professionals in a wide range of local, national and international organisations. It is intended to be convenient for both full and part time students as well as for those from the EU and farther abroad.

Successful completion of the course at the MSc level includes a semester conducting an individual study with the university’s support using the Blackboard Virtual Learning Environment. You can choose to deliver your Industry Collaboration Project based on either a traditional Dissertation or a work-based option such as a live project, placement or internship with local industry.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.

This program is typically delivered as an MSc degree over a single year at full time, or at part time in two years.

However, you can also take the program as a Post Graduate Diploma (PgDip) with the same module load but without the Project or Dissertation requirement. This can be achieved in eight months at full time or 2 years at part time.

Lastly, you can take some of the modules as a PgCert (Post-graduate Certificate) in four months at full time or a single year at part time.

    Core Modules Include:

    • Customer and Supplier Engagement
    • Developing Strategic Leadership Skills
    • International Strategic Management
    • Management Decision Making

You’ll also complete an Industry Collaboration Project (ICP) that addresses an issue important to a particular organisation or business, and is suitable to be disseminated to a wider audience. This will consist of either:

    • Dissertation
    • Entrepreneurship (Available beginning Sept 2019)
    • Internship (3 months)
    • Work Placement

    Learning & Teaching

Each module will follow a different pattern of teaching methods depending on the subject matter it addresses and the preferences of the course tutor. Modules will generally include large, formal lecture classes, practical sessions, interactive tutorials and skills workshops. Contact time is limited to two half-days every week during term time. Timetables will not be available until induction week. Modules are assessed individually, based on examinations, laboratory marks and coursework.
