    Course Outline

    This course is delivered over 4 years at full time.

    Year 1:

    Your first year gives you a basic grounding in the technologies and techniques you’ll be using at higher levels. In addition to the core modules below, you may elect to take one called Devices and Networks.

    Year 2:

    Your second year in the University of Sheffield’s Computer Science program has no electives, but does include a broad range of core modules.

    Year 3 (Industrial Placement):

    During year 3 you will do a paid industrial placement. This will give you much needed working experience and help you build the contact network you’ll need to really excel in this competitive industry.

    Year 4:

    Year 4 has few core modules, and a wide range of electives. This allows you to define your own specialty and ensure that your education is in alignment to your intended career path. Much of your time, of course, will be spent on your dissertation project.

    Learning & Teaching

    Modules will be taught by a variety of methods, including lecture classes, seminars and tutorials. You will also do a great deal of practical laboratory work and advanced research with the assistance of true experts in the field of Computer Science.

    Entry Credit

    Entry Requirements for UK and EU-nationals

    This BSc program typically requires applicants to have achieved 3 A Levels of AAA or better, or one of a number of equivalent academic certifications. One of the A levels must be in mathematics.

    Entry Requirements for overseas (non-EU) students                         

    International students must be fluent in written and spoken English. This can be demonstrated by an IELTS score of 6.5 or better overall, with no less than 6.0 in any one component.

    International students must also have earned a degree that is the rough equivalent of that required for UK and EU students. The requirements can be found here.
