    Course Summary

    A Joint BA in Accounting and Finance from the University of South Wales prepares you for a wide range of careers in the private, public or not-for-profit sectors. No matter what career path you choose, you’ll have many challenging and lucrative options.

    You’ll learn about the basis of both accounting and finance, as well as more specialised material covering computerised accounting systems, auditing, taxation, corporate finance, both financial and management accounting and financial reporting.

    This course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), the Chartered Institute of Public Finance Accountants (CIPFA) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

    Upon graduation you will be professionally certified, and exempt from many of these organisations’ examinations. Employers see this as proof of a thorough accounting education, and often give applicants with these qualifications preference over applicants who do not have them.

    Course Outline

    This program is typically delivered over three years at full time or 4 years with a year in professional placement. It can also be taken at part time over up to 6 years.

    Learning & Teaching

    The University of South Wales delivers its degree programs through a mixture of different teaching methods. These will include a great deal of self-directed reading and study, e-learning assets, practical skills workshops, interactive tutorials and large scale lectures.

    You will receive detailed instruction on and experience using the latest industry standard software packages for auditing, accounting and business communications. The ACCA and local professionals will provide guest lectures as well.

    The University of South Wales has designed their BA degree program in Accounting and Finance to produce excellent graduate employment rates. Recent graduates have gone on to work in senior management roles, management consultancy, tax services and financial accountancy with organisations such as Watkins & Gunn, Civitas Law, JK Accountancy, Eversheds, PwC and more.     Entry Credit

    Successful completion will result in a full BA degree.

    Students must typically have been awarded 3 A Levels at CDD or better (80+ UCAS Tariff points) to apply. The full list of accepted qualifications can be found here.

    All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test. An IELTS score of 6.0 overall with no section scoring less than 5.5 would qualify, for example.
