    Course Summary

    The University of Stirling’s BA (with honours) in Professional Accountancy is intended for students who already hold advanced qualifications – and may have professional experience already – who wish to add a degree in Accountancy to their professional accreditations.

    This program focuses on how to prepare and interpret financial information in a way that makes financial decisions easier for government bodies, company managers, lenders and investors of all kinds. As a successful graduate, you can claim exemption from many of the examinations required for CIPFA, CIMA and / or ACCA accreditation.

    Course Outline

    This course is delivered over 3 years at full time. The modules listed below represent the 2017/2018 course load, and may well have some changes from year to year, as the faculty make constant efforts to make this program current.

    In the first year of this program, you’ll gain a grounding in Financial Accounting, Business Law, Management Accounting, Economics and Finance.

    Your remaining two years will look at analysing accounting matters with a critical eye. In addition, you’ll add a number of work-related skills and career development activities.

    Learning & Teaching

    A Professional Accountancy degree involves a great deal of contact time with Stirling’s academic staff over three years. In addition, you will spend a great deal of learning time in independent study. Taught modules will include a fairly standard mix of seminars, interactive tutorials and lecture classes. A typical semester will see you taking three modules worth 20 credits each, and will last 11 weeks.

    Entry Credit

    Entry Requirements for UK and EU-nationals

    This BA program typically requires applicants to have achieved 3 A Levels of ABB or better, SQA Highers at AABB or higher, or one of a number of equivalent academic certifications.

    Entry Requirements for overseas (non-EU) students

    International students must be fluent in written and spoken English. This can be demonstrated by an IELTS score of 6.0 or better overall, with no less than 5.5 in any one component.
