    Course Summary

    This is a qualifying law degree, fully accredited by the Bar Standards Board and the Solicitors Regulation Authority.  

    In addition, though, it provides training in the theory and methods of management in the context of a business environment as well as a professional one. You’ll learn about nearly all aspects of English law, but you’ll also study with lecturers and professors who have experience working in businesses of all sizes and across several industries.

    In addition, the University of Sussex’s Law Clinic allows you to work directly with clients, and to practice law on their behalf – under close supervision, of course.

    Course Outline

    his is a three year program.

    Year 1:

    In your first year you will primarily study core modules that explore England’s legal system, the law of tort and the law of contract, as well as the overall framework of justice and equality in society. You will also lean about business and management, and gain an understanding of the principles of accounting.

    Year 2:

    Your second year in the University of Sussex’s Law with Business and Management LLB program, you’ll study more core modules of law, but also operations management and the international business environment.

    Year 3:

    In your third year, you will study criminal law, EU law and policy, and the tenets of ethics and corporate social responsibility. You will also choose from a wide range of optional modules to develop your particular specialty.

    Study Abroad/Placement:

    These are optional, but excellent opportunities to build up both your international law expertise and your real world experience in practice.

    Learning & Teaching

    You will experience a wide range of learning and teaching styles over the course of this program, especially if you opt to study abroad. Most modules will involve a mix of lectures, seminars, tutorials and group work. There will also be a great deal of independent study, and practical workshops designed to convey the reality of the business environment.

    Career Possiblities

    The many graduates from this program will go on to practice law, either as solicitors, barristers, paralegals, case handlers, or in executive officer roles. However, many more will take up positions in the management of large organisations’ in house council departments, or ensuring the legal and regulatory compliance of their policies.

    Entry Credit

    Entry Requirements for UK and EU-nationals

    The University of Sussex’s Law with Business and Management LLB program requires applicants to have achieved 3 A Levels, at the AAA-ABB range or better.

    If applying based on GCSEs, you must have at least a grade 5 (C) in maths as well as many GCSES in the 9 (A*) to 4 (-C) range.

    Entry Requirements for overseas (non-EU) students

    International students must be fluent in written and Spoken English. That can be evidenced with an IELTS (academic) score of 6.5 overall, with no component scoring less than 6.0.

    They must also have undergraduate accreditation equivalent to that required for UK and EU students. For example, an International Baccalaureate Diploma with at least 34 points will qualify.
