    Course Summary

    An MSc degree in Cosmetic Science is a great way to prepare yourself to enter the cosmetics and toiletries industry at the level of a project manager, a skilled technician, or any of a dozen similarly stationed roles. It requires skills in both the applied and practical sciences, as well as a deep understanding of commerce in the industry.

    This degree program was developed with a great deal of support from the CTPA (Cosmetic Toiletry and Perfumery Association), in order to ensure that it meets the industry’s intense demand for graduates who combine business awareness, technical knowledge and advanced scientific understanding. For that reason, the CTPA recognises this course’s graduates’ relevance to the industry as a whole.

    The program focuses on giving you the background and technical skills you need address the needs of consumers in the cosmetics industry as well as new ways to serve its markets. You’ll become a professional scientist with an arsenal of highly specialised skills.

    This degree program is typically delivered over 4 years at full time.

    In addition, you’ll have the option of taking a year in industry between years 2 and 3. This will be a great opportunity to develop real world experience, and to impress at least one industry employer with your skill, dedication and raw potential.

    Not only is this typically a paid internship, it will look great on nearly any CV. It can even led to offers for employment after graduation, though this is in no way guaranteed.

    The UAL’s MSc degree program in Cosmetic Science uses a variety of teaching methods to ensure that its students become successful scientists and industry professionals.     Career Possiblities

    Graduates of UAL’s MSc degree in Cosmetic Science program have many options. The program is heavily focused on employability in a wide range of roles, and the majority of graduates start looking for appropriate roles straight after completing the program.

    Graduates in recent years have gone on to work in Product Safety, as Quality Control Technicians, as Technical Product Managers, As New Product Development and Marketing Executives and many similar roles for some of the most recognised organisations in the industry.

    Entry Credit

    Successful completion will result in a 4 year MSc degree.

    Applicants must typically have earned at least 120 UCAS Tariff points, but other qualifications are also accepted. The full list of accepted qualifications can be found here.

    All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test. An IELTS score of 6.5 overall and no element scoring less than 5.5 would qualify, for example.
