    Course Summary

More and more businesses in every part of the modern global economy are seeking skilled, qualified graduates to take on the marketing, personnel management, strategic management and strategic planning positions that they need to really thrive. As highly trained graduates are in short supply, their employment rates and starting pay are quite enviable.

This degree program will see you learning just as much about practical Business and Management techniques as you will about the more abstract discipline of Economics. You’ll become familiar with the software tools modern businesses employ to make economic analyses as well as gaining the leadership, team building and management accounting techniques you’ll need to keep your organisation working smoothly.

Whilst many graduates go directly into management level roles in a wide range of industries, this program also prepares you to enter higher education, such as a Master’s Degree in Economics or Business Management, should you so choose.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.

You’ll spend roughly 12 hours each week in formal classes and as much as 30 hours studying and preparing for class, doing your own research and engaging in online learning. You can also engage in sort term internships and a year-long working placement.

    Career Possiblities

Many students of this program go on to a Master’s degree program, though many more go directly into successful business careers. Many students end up taking job offers from their placement employers or from the organisations they’ve done project work in conjunction with. Others have gone on to work with the Office for National Statistics, with which the university has very close ties. No matter what you preferred career path, the Careers Service can help you find success.

    Entry Credit

Successful completion will result in a 3 year BA degree, or a 4 year degree with a year in placement.

All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to score 6.0 overall and at least 5.5 in every component of the IELTS or score well on a similar test.
