    Course Summary

The University of West London’s International Business Management MSc program is among their most popular Master’s level course, because it prepares students for an exciting, challenging and very rewarding career in business, either locally, nationally or at the global scale.

This degree program is of interest both to students who have just graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and to professionals who have years of business experience but lack the managerial credentials they need to take their careers to the next level.

You’ll gain a deep understanding of how international businesses operate, the strategies they adopt to remain competitive, and the kinds of challenges that international business managers need to foresee, analyse and overcome. In addition to learning theory, you’ll conduct extensive case studies and simulations in order to learn the kind of practical skills that will set you apart from most of the other graduates in this competitive field.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.

    • Contemporary Marketing Challenges

In addition, students will be invited to take part in a week-long international field trip to a major European city where they will conduct a series of visits to international businesses, attend talks by experts in the field, and generally gain the perspective they will need to better put the theory they have learned into practice in the real world.

Recent students travelled to Prague, and interacted with organisations like TPCA Kolin, the Ruckl Glass Factory, the CERGE Institute, the University of Economics and Skoda.

    Learning & Teaching

The University of West London’s International Business Management degree program is primarily delivered through its modules and an extensive, outward-facing consultancy project. The modules will employ practical skills workshops, interactive tutorials, small seminars and large, formal lecture classes. The exact make-up varies depending on the subject matter at hand and the preferences of the class tutor. The consultancy project will see you analysing an issue faced by one of the university’s partner organisations, and offering a practical solution.

    Career Possiblities

This degree will of course prepare you to take on a management role in a smaller international business or a ‘fast track’ role in a larger organisation. However, it also conveys skills that will be vital to managers in a wide range of settings. Recent graduates have accepted roles as Financial Planners, Data Analysts, Project Co-ordinators, Sales Managers, Marketing Managers and Operations Managers. It also prepares you to enter a PhD program.

    Entry Credit

Successful completion will result in a 1 year MSc degree.

Applicants must typically have already earned a 2:2 honours degree or the international equivalent. The full list of qualifications can be found here.

All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test such as the IELTS.
