    Course Summary

The University of Winchester’s MA in Medical Education is grounded in the philosophy that professional qualifications should arise from activity based in research, evidence and the scientific method. Each module will introduce you to new theories which can guide your medical education practice, and invites you to test them through reflection and research. You can then judge them in terms of their ability to predict real world results. This will allow you to become an active learner, gaining real knowledge in a collaborative experiential manner.

This degree program will chiefly be of interest to educators who are already working in some form of clinical or healthcare education. This typically includes doctors, nurses, dentists, educational supervisors and clinical tutors, or anyone else seeking to better manage a medical education program. It is intended to help you see your educational practice in new ways, and to help yu inspire and lead your students to better performance.

    Course Outline

This degree program is typically delivered over 3 years at part time, and is not available for full time tuition. This ensures that it remains accessible to working educators, but also makes it attractive to those with extensive family or other commitments.

Extended discussions between yourself, your peers and the course tutor will lead to greater insight. You will also attend guest lectures where speakers will present their current work which focuses on either medical education or education in general. All taught elements will be resented on campus in Winchester.

Approximately 94% of graduates will find employment or enter into a training or degree program within 6 months of successfully completing the program.

    Entry Credit

Successful completion will result in a PgCert, a PgDip or a full MA degree.

Applicants must typically have earned a 2nd class honours degree (or the international equivalent) in a related field. The full list of accepted qualifications can be found here.

All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test. An IELTS score of 6.5 overall and at least 5.5 in writing would qualify, for example.
