    Course Summary

    The University of York’s Economics and Finance BSc degree is designed to give you a solid basis in finance and economics, with a special focus on microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics. You’ll understand how these different ways of analysing the world apply on all scales, from individuals and both small and large organisations to the level of global economic systems.

     

    You’ll study modern financial and economic theory in depth, and will learn how to perform empirical and statistical analysis of actual business challenges and opportunities.     Course Outline

    This program is delivered over the course of 3 years for most students.

    Year 1:

    During your first year of the program, you’ll study a core of modules which will help you come to grips with the basic principles of this discipline. There will be a special emphasis on economic decisions and their effects.

    Year2:

    By your second year you will be able to select from optional specialist modules in addition to a few important core modules.

    Study Abroad Year (optional):

    You will have the opportunity to spend a year at a partner university overseas. These have included excellent schools in the US, Australia and Hong Kong, as well as others.

    Year 3:

    Year 3 will have relatively few core modules, with the bulk of your time spent with electives. This allows you to define your own area of expertise to match your intended career path.

    Entry Credit

    Entry Requirements for UK and EU-nationals

    The University of York’s BSc (Hons) in Economics and Finance program requires 3 A Levels at AAB or better, or their equivalent.

    Entry Requirements for overseas (non-EU) students

    International students must be fluent in written and spoken English. This can be demonstrated by an IELTS score of 6.5 overall with no less than 6.0 in each component.

    They must also have academic accreditation equivalent to that required for UK and EU students. This could be an International Baccalaureate with a score of at least 35 points, for example.
