    Course Summary

York St John’s University LLB program is of course a qualifying law degree, and entitles successful graduates to seek out a training contract as either a solicitor or barrister who may in time practice professionally in the UK courts. In addition to the core qualifying content, you’ll have the option of selecting several elective modules which appeal to your interests and desired area of practice.

You’ll learn along with a small cohort of other students with the same admission date, attending lectures, skills workshops and mock trials / moot court events. This will ensure that you not only develop the academic and practical skills you’ll need as a lawyer, it also ensures that you become a part of the university’s professional and ethical culture.

The program may even see you working directly with legal clients, though of course in a fully supervised manner. Volunteering experiences may also be possible.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
