    Course Outline

    The MA course is delivered over a single year, in three semesters.

    Semester 1:

    Your core curriculum for the first year will consist of modules designed to give you a solid background in Accounting and Finance, including:

    • Accounting (15 Credits)
    • Economic Analysis (15 Credits)
    • Issues in Corporate Finance (15 Credits)
    • Quantitative Methods (15 Credits)

    Semester 2:

    In year 2, you will focus more on the specifics of finance and management. Your modules will include:

    • Financial Analysis and International Accounting (15 Credits)
    • Management Accounting (15 Credits)
    • Portfolio Analysis (15 Credits)

    Semester 3:

    In year three you will undertake an extensive dissertation, worth all 60 credits for the semester.

    Entry Requirements for UK and EU-nationals

    The University of Aberdeen’s MSc Econ program typically requires applicants to have earned a lower second class (2:2) undergraduate degree or better.

    Entry Requirements for overseas (non-EU) students                         

    International students must be fluent in written and spoken English. This can be demonstrated by an IELTS score of 6.0 or better overall, with no less than 6.0 in Writing and Reading, with no less than 5.5 in any other sections.

    International students must also have undergraduate accreditation equivalent to that required for UK and EU students. This includes many degrees from non-UK universities.
