    Course Summary

    The University of Aberdeen’s International Business degree program can be taken as a 4 year MA or a 5 year MBus degree. It is intended to give the business leaders of the future their first steps into rewarding, challenging careers. Students will gain a solid understanding of the methods International Businesses use to become and stay competitive in world markets, and a sense of how their business operations respond to changes in the social, political and economic environments.

    You’ll study a foreign language as part of this degree program, ensuring that you have full access to more of the international business community. You will also have the opportunity to undertake one or more internships or periods of study abroad, further enhancing your global perspective and list of industry and university contacts.

    During the later years of the program, you’ll be able to choose a specialty in business management, economics, accounting, real estate and / or finance.

    Course Outline

    The MA course is delivered over 4 years and the MBus over 5 years for most students.

    Year 1:

    Your core curriculum for the first year will consist of modules designed to give you a solid background in international business, including:

    • International Context for Business 1
    • International Context for Business 2
    • Professional Writing Skills 1
    • Academic Writing for Business

    Year 2:

    In year 2, you will focus more on the specifics of international and finance. Your modules will include electives as well as:

    • International Business Operations and Finance 1
    • International Business Operations and Finance 2

    Year 3:

    In year three you will focus more on the art and science of management. Your modules will include several electives, but also:

    • Being an International Manager 1
    • Being an International Manager 2

    Year 4:

    In addition to electives in your chosen specialty, you’ll take these core modules in year 4:

    • Contemporary Issues in International Business 1
    • Contemporary Issues in International Business 2

    Entry Credit

    Entry Requirements for UK and EU-nationals

    The University of Aberdeen’s International Business program typically requires applicants to have earned 3 A Levels at BBB or higher. SQA Highers are also accepted (at AABB or better), as well as a number of equivalent qualifications.

    Entry Requirements for overseas (non-EU) students                         

    International students must be fluent in written and spoken English. This can be demonstrated by an IELTS score of 6.0 or better overall, with no less than 6.0 in Writing and no less than 5.5 in any other sections.
