    Course Outline

    This is a masters’ program, and it is designed for graduates who wish to explore the world of international banking and finance in order to build a career. In addition to technical and management skills, the course will impart an understanding of banking and finance regulation in the UK, Europe and farther abroad.

    Students will learn to manage risks and assets, and understand the strategic choices that make the world’s financial markets and institutions function the way they do.

    In addition to the taught modules, students will have access to talks given by senior executives from some of the world’s most successful companies.

    Learning & Teaching

    U Birmingham’s Business School is research-led, and the latest thinking in the field is rapidly made a part of the lectures given there. In addition to lecture content, students will participate in classes, seminars and case studies where they will have the opportunity to explore and apply what they have learned, and to develop their skills in analysis, synthesis and argument generally.

    Entry Credit

    Entry Requirements for UK and EU-nationals

    Potential students must meet several requirements to be accepted into this program.

    • They must have an Honours degree or a professional qualification that is a full equivalent.
    • They must have at least 3 years of professional experience in a finance or finance-adjacent field.
    • If not a native English speaker, they must meet the same language requirements listed below for international students.

    Entry Requirements for overseas (non-EU) students

    In addition to the equivalent of a UK Honours degree and 3 years of relevant work experience, applicants must be able to show English language fluency in one of the following ways:

    • IELTS overall score of 7.0, and no less than 6.5 in any one band
    • TOEFL IBT score of 95, and no less than 22 in any one band
    • Pearson Academic Test of English score of at least 67 in all four skills.
