    Course Summary

    The Law School at the University of Bristol has been named one of the UK’s top ten law schools by the Complete University Guide (2018), due to the excellent quality of the education offered and the calibre of their graduates. Their LLB program is designed to turn out the well rounded, ethically minded and highly skilled law graduates the legal profession needs in ever greater numbers.

    Over the course of this 3 year program, students will learn the history and current state of the law, as well as the analysis and reasoning skills they need to apply it to real world situations. They will even have the opportunity to practice law on a pro-bono basis at the University’s Law Clinic, and to practice critical skills in moot courts and in-class debates before you make that step.

    Course Outline

    Years 1 and 2:

    Your first and second years will be almost completely taken up with the core modules every law graduate will need to practice law generally. However, even form the beginning there will be the opportunity to take a variety of optional units which appeal to your interests and / or your intended specialty or area of practice.

    These years will focus primarily on lectures and small group work, but there will be minor written projects as well.

    Year 3:

    In your final year in the University of Bristol’s LLB program, you’ll study more optional subjects that appeal to your specialty directly, and take part in the Law Clinic to develop your practical skills, including client communication, research and court presentation. You’ll also conduct and present a research project.

    Learning & Teaching

    The University of Bristol’s Law School has a long tradition of producing legal professionals. It uses a combination of traditional lecture classes, smaller group sessions and detailed seminars presented both by Law School staff and visiting experts.

    Your progress will be assessed based on course work, examinations and by a third-year research project.

    Career Possiblities

    The University of Bristol is highly committed to producing employable graduates. As a result, the majority of U Bristol Law graduates are snatched up by various employers quickly. Many enter legal practice directly, either on training contracts or barrister pupillages.

    However, a Law School education also yields highly transferrable skills, and graduates find roles in a wide variety of industries, and in both private and public sectors. Business, finance and the private sector are probably the biggest employers of graduates who do not practice law directly.

    Entry Credit

    Entry Requirements for UK and EU-nationals

    The University of Bristol Law School LLB Program requires at least 3 A Levels, typically at least AAA or A*AB. Alternative qualifications, such as Cambridge Pre-U, HE Diploma or European Baccalaureate degrees can also be accepted.

    Entry Requirements for overseas (non-EU) students
