    Course Summary

The University of Buckingham’s BA degree program in History and Economics will give you a broad understanding of not only what has happened in recent history – from the 19th century onwards – but also the microeconomic and macroeconomic factors that made some of the pivotal moments in history possible, or perhaps unavoidable. It is a great first step towards a career in international business, journalism, diplomacy or further academic study in fields such as International Relations, Global Affairs or Politics.

This is an intensive, accelerated degree program. Most universities only offer BA or BSc degrees as 3 or 4 year programs, whilst Buckingham makes it possible to earn a fully accredited, well-respected degree in just two years. As these degrees make excellent first steps towards a Master’s program (at the University of Buckingham or elsewhere), you could earn your MA or MSc in less time than some students take to earn a Bachelor’s degree!

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
