    Course Summary

    The University of Central Lancashire’s combined MEng / BEng program was designed to give students the best possible approach t engineering, especially in terms of organisation, manufacture and design. It is intended to make the more than just technically competent, but also responsible, consistent and socially aware.

    The program is also set up to give you all of the skills you’ll need to work your way towards sought-after Chartered Engineer status. It has special emphasis on preparing you for a role in the Motor Sports industry, and complies with all Engineering Council Institution requirements.

    You’ll learn using the latest computer aided engineering and design tools, and the techniques you’ll need to take your place in the manufacturing industry. You’ll also develop your problem solving an system analysis skills. In your final year you’ll engage in several projects designed to test your new-learned skills in real world situations.

    Course Outline

    This program is typically delivered over four years at full time. If necessary, you can take a foundation year. A year in industrial placement is also available. Either option will make this a 5 year program.

    A year in industrial placement is optional. This is highly advisable, though, as it will give you important real world experience within your chosen specialty and allow you to start forming a professional network while most other students are still in their classes.

    Learning & Teaching

    The University of Central Lancashire requires you to complete 120 credits of modules over each year undergraduate degree. Each standard module accounts for 20 credits, and around 200 hours of in class and individual study. This adds up to some 4,800 hours for a 4 year degree. Each module is comprised of time spent in lecture classes, smaller seminars, tutorial and skills sessions as well as much independent reading and laboratory/workshop sessions.

    Career Possiblities

    The University of Central Lancashire’s MEng degree in Computer Aided Engineering is highly focused on improving your career potential within the Motor Sports industry. It is fully accredited towards Chartered Engineer status by both the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the Institution of Engineering Designers. However, there are many other career and academic pathways open to MEng graduates, and the university’s Transitions Lead will be happy to help you explore them.

    Entry Credit

    Successful completion will result in an MEng degree.

    Students must typically have been awarded 104-112 UCAS Tariff points. The full list of accepted qualifications can be found here.

    All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test. An IELTS score of 6.0 overall with no section scoring less than 5.5 would qualify, for example.
