    Course Summary

    Psychologists study how, why and what we think, as well as the different factors which make people and animals behave the way they do. After achieving a professional qualification through the British Psychological Society, you’ll be equipped to set up your own professional practice as a forensic, industrial or clinical psychologist, among any other specialties.

    This is the perfect course for you if you would like to explore what makes you and those around you ‘tick’, as well as learning how to help people make the most of their lives by overcoming difficulties and traumas.

    You’ll learn a wide range of skills which apply to your employability more generally as well. You’ll gain crucial problem solving, communication, data handling and manipulation, critical appraisal and advanced numeracy skills, among many others.

    Learning & Teaching

    Chester’s BSc in Psychology utilises a wide range of different teaching methods, depending on the subject matter of each module. You’ll attend quite a few large, formal lectures to convey the complex theories and informational background you’ll need to understand the subject. Then you’ll engage in group discussions, laboratory and practical experience, and interactive tutorial l=modules to ensure that you truly grasp the material presented in lecture. You’ll be assessed via coursework and examination.

    Career Possiblities

    You’ll have several options after you graduate. Many students choose to continue on the academic path, at least for a time. You could pursue an MSc or even a PhD degree in Psychology or one of its more specialised sub-fields at Chester, or a wide range of other universities. Many other students seek out roles in the advertising, marketing or even banking industries, or pursue options in project or personnel management.

    Entry Credit

    Successful completion will result in a 3 year BSc degree.

    Applicants must typically have earned 120 UCAS Tariff points, or the international equivalent. The full list of accepted qualifications can be found here.

    All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test. An IELTS score of 6.0 overall and with no section scoring less than 5.5 would qualify, for example.
