    Course Summary

    A BA in International Business Management from the University of Cumbria could be the first step you take towards an exciting career in a management, leadership or operational role in any of the world large multinational companies. It could even see you founding your won start-up and making a name for yourself on the world stage.  

    You’ll learn business strategy, how that relates to an international company’s operational needs, and how to manage both people and resources effectively in a complex modern organisation.   

    This degree program is delivered by Cumbria’s world famous Business School within the Lancaster Campus. That campus also hosts the Centre for Regional Economic Development, where industry, government and Cumbria’s own researchers work to understand and improve the economy of the North of England.

    You’ll even have the chance to study abroad, perhaps at Cumbria’s partner institution in Malaysia – FAME – and develop a truly international portfolio with which to impress potential employers.

    Course Outline

    This program is typically delivered over three years at full time.

    Most of your curriculum will come from a common core which has been designed to give you all of the essential business, research, leadership and professional skills you will need to succeed in business generally. This will prepare you for the widest possible range of industries and roles within the public, private or not for profit sectors.

    You’ll have the option of studying at the university’s Lancaster campus in England or at the facilities of their Malaysian collaborative partner FAME.

    Learning & Teaching

    The curriculum of the University of Cumbria’s courses will include all of the expected teaching methods, most notably large scale lectures, guest speakers or presentations, peer review on coursework, interactive seminars, skills workshops, work placement, case studies and extensive use of the university’s Virtual learning Environment. In addition, you’ll learn how to do business and economic research, learn study skills and improve your overall employability by taking specific modules in years 2 and 3.

The curriculum ensures that you learn highly transferrable skills like Researching, Self-Reliance, Decision-Making, Persuasive Communication, Critical thinking and Analytical thinking. This is provided at no charge by the Careers Team, and will give you several competitive advantages when it comes time to look for your first few roles.

    Entry Credit

    Successful completion will result in a full BA degree.

    Students must typically have been awarded 96-112 UCAS Tariff Points to apply. The full list of accepted qualifications can be found here.

    All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test. A good IELTS score would qualify, for example.
