    Course Summary

A BSc in Psychology from the University of Cumbria is a great first step toward a career in psychological research, the legal or social welfare fields, healthcare education, HR, marketing or business more generally.

You’ll learn from skilled professional psychologists with backgrounds in Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology and Forensic Psychology as well as several other specialities. They will help you explore the human experience generally, but most especially the biological and cognitive bases of human behaviour, thoughts and feelings – the things which make us ‘people’

Perhaps more importantly, you’ll be able to learn to plan and conduct psychological research by joining the research teams of experts in the field and help them conduct real, life-changing research.

This degree program is fully accredited by the BPA – the British Psychological Society. Completing it will give you Graduate Basis for Chartership in the BPS, and put you very near indeed to full Chartered Psychologist status with that organisation.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
