    Course Summary

    An MSc in Accounting and Finance from the University of Dundee will let you enhance your existing finance or accounting degree and expand your career or advanced study options exponentially.

    Course Outline

    This MSc course is delivered over a single year.

    You will have a set of three compulsory modules which will give you an advanced understanding of quantitative research methods, the principles of corporate governance, and the issues facing the accounting profession today. You will also choose four electives from a fairly long list of options. Lastly, you will also undertake a dissertation as a capstone to the program.

    (Note that Econometrics for Finance may be substituted for Quantitative methods for some students, with special permission.)

     

    You must select one elective module from the Accounting list, one from Finance and two more from any list.

    Learning & Teaching

    Dundee’s Accounting and Finance program is heavily oriented to actual practice, ensuring that you develop a wide range of transferrable skills. You will experience practical computer sessions and simulations, interactive small group tutorials, in-depth workshops and skills sessions, and many classic lectures and seminars. Assessment will include marked coursework, end of module exams and of course your dissertation.

    Career Possiblities

    The University of Dundee’s Accounting and Finance MSc course allows you to go on to seek your PhD, to take a responsible role in business, or to advance yourself within your chosen profession. Many Dundee Accounting and Finance graduates have taken roles in financial institutions, in multi-national businesses, or a specialist accountants or managers.

    Entry Credit

    Entry Requirements for UK and EU-nationals

    Dundee’s Accounting and Finance program typically requires applicants to have a 2:2 degree in business, accounting or finance, or its equivalent.

    Entry Requirements for overseas (non-EU) students                         

    International students must be fluent in written and spoken English. This can be demonstrated by an IELTS score of 6.0 or better overall, with no less than 5.5 in Writing, Reading, Speaking and Listening.

    International students must also have earned a degree that is the rough equivalent of that required for UK and EU students. The requirements can be found here.
