    Course Summary

This degree program aims to give you an awareness of all of the different contexts of jewellery design, especially the societal, historical and economic. You’ll learn modern 2D and 3D design techniques on all of the latest equipment and applications, and learn to work with a wide range of materials, not just metals.

The University of Dundee’s BDes in Jewellery & Metal Design has a strong ‘studio ethos’, ensuring that you learn how to share ideas and participate in a very supportive design environment. You’ll have the full resources of the department at your back, and will have the opportunity to fuse technology, culture, politics, fashion and science to your art by collaborating with the university’s extremely diverse research community.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
