    Course Summary

The global economy affects every organisation and practically every person in the world today. The study of International Economics gives you an important grasp on the way this economy works. You’ll come to understand how trade goods and finances flow between nations and organisations and the complexities of international monetary relations.

The University of Essex’s International Economics BA degree program is a great way to learn more about the different players on the world trade stage. This course will give you an understanding of the different trade systems used around the world, how these have developed over time, and the historical events that have been instrumental in establishing the global trade system we have now.

This three year BA degree will give you the core tools of the economist and the context of how to apply them to international trade situations in the world today. You’ll learn important quantitative research methods which can be applied in a wide range of industries, as well as specific training in modelling international trade relationships, navigating foreign exchange markets, understanding international finance and the organisations that make cross-border financial transactions. You’ll learn about the history of European trade systems in detail, and understand the impact that business decisions can have on both a social and an economic level.

You may apply to extend this degree to a 4 year course with a year of professional placement and/or a year abroad.
