    Course Summary

    The University of Heriot-Watt’s MEng in Chemical Engineering with Oil and Gas Technology is intended to give its graduates the skills they will need to enter the petroleum industry in rewarding and challenging positions, helping to develop new oil and gas reserves and pursuing similar projects.

    You’ll study a wide range of topics related to oil and gas engineering, and will be able to define your own specialty to a great degree with electives and project work. You can also apply for a Diploma in Industrial Training and qualify as an Incorporated and / or Chartered Engineer with this IChemE accredited course.

    Course Outline

    This course is delivered over 4 years for full time students. The first three years are identical to the curriculum for the BEng in Chemical Engineering, and students can choose to graduate with a BEng any time up until the end of year 3, or switch into the MEng program upon completing the 3rd year of the BEng program.

    Year 4

    In year 4 you’ll go beyond the BEng program curriculum to look at how oil and gas reserves are formed ad how the industry develops them. You’ll also being a 2 year design project.

    Entry Credit

    Entry Requirements for UK and EU-nationals

    The University of Heriot-Watt typically requires students to have already achieved 3 A Levels at BBC with a B or better in Mathematics or Chemistry, and ideally Physics as well.

    Entry Requirements for overseas (non-EU) students                         

    International students must be fluent in written and spoken English. This can be demonstrated by a good IELTS score, but other courses will be accepted.

    International students must also have academic accreditation equivalent to that required for UK and EU students.
