Professionals who understand the principles of Economics and know how to apply them in a Business context set strategy, plan for growth and provide the insight into economic challenges and opportunities that these organisations need to thrive in a competitive environment.

The University of Huddersfield’s BSc degree in Business Economics focuses primarily on 3 disciplines:

    • Macroeconomics – the study of how high level factors like inflation, consumption and median income interact
    • Microeconomics – analysing how small businesses, groups and even individual households handle money
    • Quantitative Economics – developing the mathematical, statistical and analytical tools that make the other approaches a sciences rather than arts

In addition, you’ll spend a year in a working placement which the university will help you to arrange. This will give you real world working experience and your first true professional contacts.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
