    Course Summary

The University of Hull’s BSc degree in Psychology is a great way to begin your journey towards a professional career as a Chartered Psychologist, or to use what you’ve learned in a wide range of other industries and economic sectors.

Though this degree can be taken in just 3 years, many students opt to add a foundation year. The foundation year will serve several purposes. First it will give you an introduction to studying and taking tests at a university level, and get you used to life at the University of Hull. It will also introduce basic mathematic and scientific principles as well as crucial background knowledge. This option is perfect for those with experience but no degree awards, those without high UCAS Tariff scores or for those who are returning to education after a long absence.

This program is fully accredited by the British Psychological Society, and provides graduate asis for chartered membership in that body.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.

This degree program is highly employment oriented. Because of the program’s close links to the NHS and the national research community, most students have little trouble finding their first roles. In fact, some 96% of new graduates have found suitable roles or entered into higher degree programs within 6 months of completing the program.

You might even take advantage of the university’s fast track to the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology program, which typically sees your doctorate fees paid whilst you receive an NHS salary.

Successful completion will result in a 3 year BSc degree.

Applicants must typically have earned 112 UCAS Tariff points, or the international equivalent. The full list of accepted qualifications can be found here.

All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test. An excellent IELTS score would qualify, for example.
