    Course Summary

The University of Hull was named one of the top four universities for learning resources in the mechanical engineering category by the 2018 National Student Survey. Hull’s combined BEng and MEng program in Mechanical and Energy Engineering is a great way to prepare yourself for an advanced or even leadership role in either in the energy sector overall or specifically as a mechanical engineer.

Though this degree can be taken in just 4 years, many students opt to add a year studying abroad or taking a year to learn professional skills in work placement. Studying abroad will give you an international perspective, which can be very important in a career which can take you all around the world. A year in industry would give you not only CV enhancing real world experience, but also a chance to start building your professional network and to impress at least one potential employer with your skills and attitude.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
