You’ll learn the communication skills necessary to the role of counsellor, come to understand Counselling psychology both in its historical and theoretical frameworks, learn to assess psychological needs and learn how to plan and implement client change interventions.

The second year of this program primarily consists of Arranged practicum placements. These will give you not only valuable work experience, but a great deal of public-facing, client-focused time. It will allow you to enter the job market with a great deal of confidence, and a much better developed CV than many similarly placed graduates.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills.
