    Course Summary

    The University of Northampton’s combines BEng/MEng degree program in Electromechanical Engineering offers you a 4 year Bachelor’s to Master’s program which will combine all of the general scientific and engineering skills you’ll need to enter a wide range of industries as a trainee engineer with the specific, highly focused skill you’ll learn in your final, MSc level year. 

    You’ll learn the basics of working with electricity, mechanical systems and electronics, as well as the maths, science and physics which support high level engineering You’ll also learn about specialised engineering subjects like materials science, engineering design, 3D simulation and computer aided drafting, as well as an appreciation for sustainable business principles.

    You’ll be able to earn not only your BEng and MEng degrees, but also a Changemaker Gold Certificate and/or Employability Plus Gold Certification. You may also qualify for a 6 month paid internship, arranged by the university after graduation.

    Learning And Teaching

    The University of Northampton relies on fairly standard lectures, skills workshops and seminars as well as upon the school’s computer aided design (CAD) suites, industrial grade laboratories and industry-specific workshops.

    You’ll typically experience 12 hours of in class ‘contact time’ per week, in addition to a further 24 or more hours of self-directed reading, study and revision. You’ll be assessed via examinations as well as by your group and individual projects and other coursework.

    Career Possibilities

    The University of Northampton’s BEng/MEng program in Electromechanical Engineering prepares you well for roles like Technical Writer, Technical Serviceperson, and Designer in the consultancy, medical, automotive, pharmaceutical, telecoms and of course manufacturing industries.  

    If you took part in either the Changemaker Gold or Employability Plus Gold programs and you somehow have not found suitable employment within a year of graduation, the university will arrange an internship for you to ease your transition into the business world.

    Entry & Credit

    Successful completion will result in both your BEng and MEng degrees.

    All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test. An IELTS score of 6.0 overall and no less than 5.5 in any section would qualify, for example.
