    Course Summary

An MSc in the Psychology from the University of Northern British Columbia is largely focused on the areas of health and human psychology, but it will give you an enhanced background in all of the methodological and substantive areas of the field, as well as the chance to explore your own interests and specialty in great detail.

This program benefits from the UNMC’s community oriented and student lead approaches to learning, and seeks to give its students the ability to improve their own expertise via research. It aims to supply the Northern, Rural, Remote and Indigenous psychology and therapy communities with the highly trained specialists they need.

It does this by making its students familiar with the mental health challenges and other factors relevant to northern communities, but also by giving its students the opportunity to do applied and / or community based research, and to gain vitally needed experiential training.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
