    Course Summary

A BHSc (Honours BSc) from the University of Ottawa will prepare you for a wide range of careers, but most students opt to transition into a health related MSc after graduation, either at U Ottawa or one of many other fine institutions. This program has a very integrative take on the subject, and makes great use of the university’s highly interdisciplinary faculty. If you opt for a Thesis, you’ll be in the best of hands.

You’ll study the biosciences in great detail, of course. In addition, you’ll gain high end analytical skills and lean to conduct both qualitative and quantitative life science research to a high academic standard. You’ll learn to uncover and make sense of the environmental, social and other ‘hidden’ factors which can impact health, and address ways to improve public health throughout Canada or anywhere in the world.

You’ll be able to take many of your classes in French or in English throughout the entire program.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
