    Course Summary

    You can take the University of Ottawa’s Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree with a focus in Management. This option will give you general business and personnel management skills as well as a basic business education and enhanced decision making ability. It will make use of your innate creativity to make you a potent and effective innovator, able to both initiate and deliver projects of all kinds. 

    As you study, you’ll learn both practical business skills and more academic analytical abilities. You’ll learn to understand and evaluate organisational strategies, and to create your own to meet the unique challenges and opportunities of any business environment. Not only will you study historical management practices, you’ll learn the cutting edge ideas which will make the managers and leaders of the future. 

    The degree program is quite wide ranging, and you’ll gain the kind of general professional skills which can be applied to nearly any career path or industry.

    In addition to the core curriculum, students will have to select 18 units from the Optional Modules listed below, 15 units from the Administration list, and up to 15 units from any other faculty.

    Learning And Teaching

    The University of Ottawa’s BCom program with a focus in Management is for the most part delivered using familiar lesson formats. These will include skills workshops, business simulations and interactive seminars, but new ideas will be introduced in large lectures.  

    Certain modules may include blended learning or distance learning content, and CO-OP options are available. The entire program can be taken as an immersive French language experience, as well.

    Career Possibilities

    This degree program is delivered by the Telfer School of Management, and you’ll have full access to their specialised Career Centre. There, you can develop wining career management skills and tap into the school’s unique networking events, skill building programs and other resources. 

    Recent graduates of the University of Ottawa’s BCom in Management have become Management Consultants, Project Managers, Business Analysts and Chief Executive Officers, among many other, similar roles. 

    Entry & Credit

    Successful completion will result in a full BCom degree. 

    To apply, you’ll need to have a baccalaureate degree with a B / 70% average, or the international equivalent. Other qualifications may be accepted. 

    All classes are taught in English unless otherwise specified, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test.
