    Course Summary

Plymouth University’s MEng in Civil Engineering was created to train the next generation of engineers – engineers who can create viable, sustainable solutions to the problems of a growing population with an ever-growing concern for their relationship with the global economy and ecology.

One of the highlights of this program is access to the new Marine Building. Constructed at a cost of over £19 million, this facility allows unique methods of teaching coastal and water-based engineering. Selecting optional models on flood modelling and / or structural engineering will see you spending a lot of time there.

This degree program is fully accredited by the ICE (Institute of Civil Engineers), IStructE (the Institution of Structural Engineers, the IHE (Institute of Highway Engineers) as well as by the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation. By successfully completing the degree program, you’ll have fulfilled the educational requirement to become a Chartered Engineer, and your employability will increase dramatically.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
