    Course Summary

    The University of Prince Edward Island’s BSc degree in Computer Science is delivered by the School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences, one of the best respected institutions in the province.     Course Outline

    This degree program is typically delivered over 4 years of full time study. As with most of UPEI’s programs, you will complete two years of Common Core courses before declaring your speciality. 

    Year 1 & 2 Core Modules Include:

    In addition, you’ll need to select at least 15 elective modules in your first 2 years in this program. None may be from within the School of mathematical and Computational Science.

    Learning And Teaching

    Like almost all of UPEI’s degree programs, this one is delivered primarily through lectures, skill-based workshops and interactive seminar sessions. As this is both a practical and theoretical program, you can expect to spend a great deal of time in Computer Science labs as well. 

    A wide range of co-op education options can see you alternating between on-campus academic terms and on-site work terms within your field of specialty. 

    Career Possibilities

    This degree is an excellent way to begin a career in a wide range of roles in both business and non-business contexts. Recent graduates of the program have become actuaries, accountants, entrepreneurs, consultants and more, working in the private, public and not for profit sectors. 

    Alternatively, many students continue their education at the Graduate and eventually PhD levels. Many fellowships and scholarships are available to help finance your graduate school career. 

    Entry & Credit

    Successful completion will result in a 4 year BSc degree.

    Applicants must typically have earned a high school diploma, or the international equivalent. This must include English, Maths and at least two Science subjects.

    All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test such as the IELTS.
