    The University of Regina’s MSc in Biology will put you in a very competitive position whether you intend to continue your studies to the PhD level or to enter the job market in any of a wide range of industries. This is a heavily research-oriented program, and you will be able to participate in the university’s advanced biology research programs. Current areas of focus for these programs include Biochemistry, Organismal Physiology, Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Evolution and Ecology. 

    Regina offers award winning teaching staff and advanced facilities such as the Aquatics Facility, the field station in the Cypress Hills, the EQAL (Environmental Quality Analysis Laboratory), IECS (Institute of Environmental Change and Society) and the recently-established Institute for Microbial Systems and Society.

    Both MSc and PhD programs are available, and it is occasionally possible to be admitted to the PhD program without first being awarded an MA, though this is rare.

    Learning And Teaching

    The University of Regina relies on many standard teaching methods to convey the content described above. These will almost certainly include formal lectures, interactive tutorials and skills sessions as well as seminar style classes. 

    You will also conduct research in the lab and in the field, all over Canada and overseas. This may be conducted in association with organisations like the Roy Romanow Provincial Laboratory, the Royal Saskatchewan Museum and others.

    Entry & Credit

    Successful completion will result in a 2 year MSc degree.

    Applicants must typically have completed a 4 year Bachelor’s degree in a related subject, or the international equivalent. International applicants should also take the GRE.

    Though French Immersion programs are available, all classes are taught in English unless otherwise noted. International students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test.
