    Course Summary

    The University of Roehampton’s MRes program in Cell Biomedicine is a great opportunity to study the latest advances in a very exciting field. It is perfect for students who already hold a 2nd class honours degree (or better) in a relevant field who wish to better prepare themselves for a career in the health industry, in a clinical setting or in biomedical research.

    You’ll delve deeply into pathology and cell biology, and have the chance to complete your own research project. You’ll learn about cellular biomedicine on both the theoretical level and in terms of how it can be applied practically by different industries.

    The degree program benefits form well respected academics and researchers as well as top of the line molecular biology facilities. You’ll become familiar with growing tissue cultures, as well as working with neural stem cells in particular. You’ll also learn to use autoradiography equipment, microscopy analysers and high sensitivity LC-MS and HPLC equipment.

    Course Outline

    This is a single year program for most students, if taken at full time.

    It will include in-depth training in the medical and industrial aspects of cell biology and pathology. Each of the modules will prepare you for the capstone of the program, your Research Project. You’ll learn about the different research methods you’ll be using in advance. In fact, you will study experimental design and management thoroughly before you begin your project.

    This information will be conveyed by a series of subject-specific lectures, tutorials and seminar classes. You’ll study both the theoretical backgrounds and specific technological solutions to many of the most promising cellular biomedicine advances from true experts in the field.

    Entry & Credit

    Successful completion will result in a 1 year MRes degree.

    Applicants must typically have achieved a 2:1 undergraduate degree or the international equivalent. Beyond that, a wide range of qualifications are accepted.

    All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test.
