    Course Summary

The University of Saskatchewan’s BCom programs are delivered by the renowned Edwards School of Business. A BCom in Management will teach you to plan, staff and execute projects on small and large scales and prepares you to enter a higher level business degree program such as an MBA. Alternatively, it can also give you all of the skills you’ll need to enter the business world with a significant competitive advantage over other graduates.

All BCom students complete a common core curriculum in their first year. That means that regardless of which BCom program you enrol in, you can switch easily between the different degrees at any time before you begin your second year.

    The specialisations offered include:

    • Accounting
    • Finance
    • Human Resources
    • Management
    • Marketing
    • Operations Management

Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.

    Learning And Teaching

The University of Saskatchewan strives to use both traditional and innovative techniques appropriate to each degree they offer. For example, you’ll attend large lecture classes but also smaller and more interactive seminars and tutorial sessions. Many subjects have experiential or co-operative learning content, and you’ll learn a great many practical skills of all kinds.

Note that after you apply to a specialised program in January of your second year, the teaching methods will become much less generic.

    Career Possibilities

This degree will prepare you well for several different graduate degree programs, or for a wide range of different careers. Many Management students pursue an MBA program at the Edwards School of Business or study for professional certification in Management or Leadership. The Management stream is intended to be very generalist and deliver the widest possible range of business skills. As a result, recent graduates of USask’s Management BCom have become Small Business Owners, General Managers, Event Planners, Entrepreneur and Consultants.

    Entry & Credit

Successful completion will result in a 4 year BComm degree.

To enter any of USask’s undergraduate programs, you’ll need to have a secondary education with an admission average of 24, though international qualifications are also accepted.

All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test.
