    University of Strathclyde’s Accounting and Management BA program is perfect for those students who either have some accountancy or management experience but want to branch out, or those who are starting fresh and want to prepare for a responsible role in the field of accountancy. In the course of this program you’ll learn to interpret, prepare and present financial information, and to make sure others can make practical use of it. In addition, you’ll learn the basics of business and the finer points of management.

    The program is certified by the ICAS, the ACCA and the CIMA, and depending on your choice of electives you may be able to avoid testing into these certifications yourself.

    Course Outline

    This course is delivered over 4 years for most students. In addition to a core curriculum you’ll be able to choose from a wide range of electives to ensure that your education closely matches both your interests and long term career goals.

    Year 1

    Your first year you’ll take Part 1 of the Management Development Programme as well as Managing in a Global Context.

    Year 2

    In your second year you’ll continue on with Part 2 of the Management Development Programme and take modules called Organisational Analysis & Strategy and Understanding Change in Organisations.

    Year 3

    Over the third year you’ll finish the Management Development Programme with Part 3, as well as modules called Developing Theory into Practice, Contemporary Trends in Management Practice. You’ll also engage in a Management Industry Placement.

    Year 4

    Your fourth year will include an Accounting module as well as others on Contemporary Issues in Management, Management, Enterprise & the Rise of the Global Economy, Dynamics of Organising and on Strategy & Leadership

    Learning And Teaching

    Strathclyde’s Accounting and Management BA program is taught in a series of 8 12-week semesters. These will include large lectures, smaller interactive tutorials and seminars, team projects and a variety of computer learning sessions. The Management Development Program in particular is at the heart of most of Strathclyde’s Business BAs.

    Career Possibilities

    Graduates of this program have an advantage when it comes time to seek many accounting certifications such as CIPFA, CIMA, ACCA, ICAEW and / or ICAS. Once they have one or more of these certifications, graduates often go on to become Tax Trainees, Auditors and Trainee Accountants at firms like PwC, Deloitte, Ernst & Young and many others.

    Entry Requirements

    for UK and EU-nationals:

    This BA program typically requires applicants to have achieved 3 A Levels at AAA or higher, Scottish Highers at AAAA or AAABB (with an A in Maths and B or better in English) or one of a number of equivalent academic certifications.

    for overseas (non-EU) students:

    International students must be fluent in written and spoken English. This can be demonstrated by an IELTS score of 6.5 or better overall, with no less than 5.5 in any one component.
