    The University of the Fraser Valley’s Computing Science program offers you the chance to Major or Minor in Computing Science, or to choose a 3rd tear focus in either Programming Languages & Software, Artificial Intelligence & Data Mining or Systems & Security. No matter what pathway you choose, you’ll get a solid grounding in computers and data science. 

    You can also take advantage of the school’s co-operative education options, getting paid to earn real world work experience in your chosen specialty and proving to potential employers that you have the skills and attitude required to succeed in this exciting field.

    Learning And Teaching

    UFV strives to use both traditional and innovative techniques in its undergraduate programs. This program features a co-op semester, which will give you vital real world experience within your specialty.

    You’ll attend formal lecture classes, practical skills sessions, laboratories, problem solving exercises, and small scale tutorial sessions as well. You’ll also have the support of the school’s Academic Advisors to help you plot the best educational course for yourself and your career.  

    Career Possibilities

    Computing Science Careers are interesting, fast moving and generally well-paid. Many recent graduates of UFV’s CS BSc program have become graduate students in several specialised Computing Science fields. Others have taken rewarding roles at telecommunications companies, weather research stations, astronomical observatories, biotech companies, software publishers, manufacturing firms, medical equipment companies, hospitals and public health providers, pharmaceutical companies, publicly funded research labs or commercial research and development facilities, among many other options.

    Entry & Credit

    Successful completion will result in a 4 year BSc degree.

     To enter UFV’s BSc program, you’ll need to present your High School Transcripts, International Baccalaureate or similar international qualifications. No particular specialisation is required.  

    All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test. A Foundations Program is available if you lack the necessary language skills.
