    Course Summary

Graphic Design is more than just drawing or creating digital imagery. It is about communicating visually, usually in a commercial context but also on an artistic or decorative level. Almost everything around us has visual elements, and that means it passed through a design phase. Gaining skills in graphic design lets you take better charge of the way this is done. In the same way, an emphasis on Digital Design prepares you to design for the modern online world.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree offered by the University of the Fraser Valley can be enhanced with Graphic and Digital Design content in several ways. You can add it as a Minor field of study or as an Extended Minor with added Visual Arts, Theatre, Media and Communication Studies, Creative Writing, Visual Studies, Art History, Visual Identity, Communications Design, Interactive Design or Dynamic Media content. You can also major in Graphic and Digital Design.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
