    Learning And Teaching

    UFV focuses on small class size and in-depth instruction in its graduate courses. This program features a highly personalised curriculum and an extensive practicum requirement. On graduation, you can register with the British Columbia College of Social Workers.

     You’ll attend formal lecture classes, practical skills sessions, laboratories, problem solving exercises, and small scale tutorial sessions as well. You’ll also have the support of the school’s Academic Advisors to help you plot the best educational course for yourself and your career.  

    Career Possibilities

    The employment rate for highly qualifies Social Work experts is expected to grow dramatically in the next ten years. Registered social workers at the Master’s degree level typically have excellent career mobility, and rise quickly to a leadership role. You may find yourself building a career as a human services program developer, a case manager, a teacher or trainer or as an administrator. Alternatively, you might find success doing policy development research for a governmental or social agency.

    Entry & Credit

    Successful completion will result in a 2 year MSW degree.

    To enter UFV’s Master of Social Work program, you’ll have to have achieved a Baccalaureate degree in Social Work (or the international equivalent) as well as 2 years of volunteer or working experience in the field.

    All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test.
